Infrared Camera Detects Wet Spots
This commercial building was hit hard by flash flooding in Des Moines, Iowa. The flooding caused the sewer to backup, which left a mess and a not-so-lovely smell behind. SERVPRO of Black Hawk County was called in for backup during this time of emergency.
One of the tools we used was an infrared camera—the same one that firefighters use to detect hot spots! Did you know you can use infrared cameras to detect water leaks? Unlike firefighters, we use the infrared to find “cold spots” which usually indicate water leaks. This helps us be precise in diagnosing a water leak or a potential mold issue.
In the photos above, you can see the drywall is very wet near the floor trim in addition to some spots on the floor. Knowing this information, we can aim our air movers at the correct spots to start the drying process.
With any water loss, don’t hesitate to call SERVPRO of Black Hawk County. We’ll make it, “Like it never even happened.”
