Heavy Rains Strike Independence Home

This basement suffered from a water loss in their basement due to heavy rains in the Independence area. You can see the stains the water left on the walls in the before pictures showing how high the water was before the removal.

SERVPRO of Black Hawk County came and cut out the damaged drywall, insulation, and carpet to prevent further problems such as mold and odors. Once this is done, the drying process can begin.

It is our protocol for our technicians to return multiple times to the home in the week to follow for check assessment on the drying process.

We use a tool called a moisture meter that’s user-friendly and efficient. We simply place the meter on the wall, and it gives a numerical rating. The lower the rating, the dryer it is. Zero, for example, would mean it’s completely dry, and eighty would mean it’s still very wet and needs some attention.

Our contractors will come in next and completely repair the wall and install carpet once the drying process is complete.
