When storms come in the form of snow, it can be scary to think of what might happen if you were traveling in your vehicle and got stranded. We can’t always prevent these occurrences from happening, but what we can do, is be prepared!
It is important to keep some sort of emergency kit in your vehicle, especially in the wintertime. Having one leg up on those freezing, bitterly cold days here in Iowa is key!
Here is a list of things you can store in your car in case of emergency:
- Hat and mittens
- Blanket
- Flashlight
- Cell phone charger and a USB port
- Notepad and pen
- When you call for help sometimes dispatchers will give you additional phone numbers. If you were in an accident involving another person, it could also be used to write license plate numbers down!
- Jumper Cables
- First Aid Kit
- These are helpful during any time of the year!
- Ice scraper
- Bottled Water
- Winter boots that will keep your feet warm
- Sleeping bag
- On longer trips especially!
- Tire gauge
This list is a great reference point to come back to when you need an idea of what to put in your car snowstorm emergency kit! We are HERE TO HELP and sometimes helping comes in the form of preparedness!
